About us

Welcome to the Mapache (“Raccoon” in Spanish) Family! Here we make no distinction between guests, staff or management. We invite you to be part of our small family, make new friends, connect with locals, and discover the best-kept secrets of our beautiful island.

Rent a bike with us and explore Holbox at your own pace, from quiet beaches to spots where you can find flamingos and bioluminescence. With daily activities, you will have plenty to see and do, and we can also organize boat tours for you to see the famous whale sharks or the three islands within the nature reserve of Yum Balam.

We offer accommodation for every type of traveller, including shared dorms, glamping tents, tipis, and private ensuite rooms with air conditioning. Throughout the hostel, you’ll find fast WiFi, hot showers with good pressure, a fully equipped communal kitchen, a free gym, a book exchange, laundry service, towels for rent, a rooftop lounge and a peaceful garden filled with hammocks.

If you’re lucky, you might even spot the raccoons in the palm trees at night. Travelling with your little ones or furry friends? No problem, children and pets are more than welcome with us!
